THURSDAY 29 MARCH 2012
Janine Pert of Discover Wine
What’s in your glass?
Discover Wine is the bright idea of Australian-born Janine Pert, whose love of wine and bubbly enthusiasm will make every event a sparkling success.
Janine’s passion for discovering wine began when she lived in Melbourne and spent weekends visiting the wineries of the Barossa Valley. Among her favourites was Tahbilk, one of the oldest vineyards in Australia, and her links with owners the Purbrick family continue to this day. (A very special family dinner in London to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the winery featuring museum wines from the Tahbilk cellars is something she’ll never forget!)
Janine is an experienced speaker. She worked in the airline industry and now uses the skills she learnt there to make presentations about her business in the wine industry. She now runs courses on wine and wine tasting for corporate events, hen parties and many other events. She can advise on the wine required at a special occasion as so often this can be overlooked.
Those of you, who are old enough to remember, take your mind back to 25 years ago. There wasn’t a bottle of Australian wine on any supermarket shelf. Janine will talk to us about how far we have come with New World Wine. She will explain some of the wine jargon we may have heard on television and show us how to taste like a professional. New World versus Old World? Do you know the differences? How much are you influenced by the price of wine? Do you look for a bargain or think that if it’s expensive then it must be good? Janine will try to expel some of the myths around choosing a good bottle of wine.
This promises to be yet another exciting talk by a very passionate business woman. Do book and come along to hear Janine speak. For more information, email janine@discoverwine.uk.com and have a look at her website.

Nicola Dickinson of Fresh Therapies
presents
Making an Idea Come to Life
Eden Natural Nail Polish Remover
Nicola, a past member of the CLBC will tell us how her work as a beauty therapist using only organic and natural products has led her to developing a natural nail polish remover from scratch. She realised when working in her purpose built salon that there was something that didn’t smell quite right. It was the nail polish remover! So, Nicola set about creating Eden.
Come along, join us for lunch and find out how Nicola has coped with every new hurdle she has faced. She has struggled with everything from the design of the bottle tops to learning all the jargon of the manufacturers. If you enjoy The Apprentice or The Dragons’ Den then this is a talk you can’t afford to miss! Nicola will tell us how absolutely nothing has beaten her. She now has the product in fantastic bottles and is selling it. Her journey now continues as she sets about trying to put it in bulk in a big department store.
You can look forward to an interesting and professional talk as Nicola has spoken at many W.I. and networking events, giving demonstrations on skincare. She has attended trade fairs and more recently, made presentations to various organisations to promote her product.
